A Waldorf School production
Directed by Jan Horsburgh.
Autumn 2000 at The Waldorf School, Luxembourg City.
As an extension to their normal English lessons, the Waldorf School’s year 5 compiled, arranged and performed An American Tale. Charting the progress of the USA from before slavery to after Martin Luther King.
A moving production with lessons for us all.
I found the enthusiasm of these kids quite infectious. They did all their research as part of an American history project in their English classes. The production was a compilation of prose and verse taken from an amazing variety of sources. To cap it all, they performed on three nights to parents and teachers. Working in the open space of a school gym was a great experience for me. No worries about shadow or spill. Well worth getting involved with.
